Automatic Door Opener for wheelchairs

ERREKA’s DDA-compliant systems consider every aspect of facilitating easy access to wheelchairs including door entry equipment positioning and height, door opening widths, and proper signage. The PREMIS door opener has been designed with wheelchair access in mind; it can work with push pads to facilitate access and is equipped with a wheelchair courtesy function; the doors remain open for a sufficient amount of time to allow passage of the wheelchair before automatic closing. If the safety sensors detect the presence of a wheelchair the door pauses closing to allow passage through the door.

Erreka considers all wheelchair access requirements including door opening size according to the latest UK regulations. The requirements vary depending on the type of building type and whether the door is for public access. There should a minimum of 840mm or 33-in of clear opening width for wheelchair access. Ideally, the width should be at least 900mm. There are also other considerations to take into account such as a level floor area before entering and the distances to the nearest obstructions such as walls, radiators, etc.
