Automatic sliding doors – The Situation:
Situated on the River Medway in Kent, Chatham Maritime Marina is at the heart of a multi-million pound leisure and retail development that’s set to become a major waterfront attraction. Following a recent expansion, the marina now has 412 berths and is close to a factory outlet shopping complex. In addition there is a multiscreen cinema, Dickensian theme park and numerous restaurants and bars that provide a picturesque watering hole. There’s also a local convenience store stocking essential items, with various other facilities planned.
The river is navigable for around 13 miles from its mouth at Sheerness to Rochester. For boats drawing no more than two metres, the possibilities are even greater. Further up, past Allington Lock, the river meanders through delightful countryside to Maidstone and Tonbridge.
Quite recently the Directors of Chatham Marina contacted ERREKA Automatic Doors & Shopfronts UK Ltd to discuss their requirements for the entranceway into the floating facility block on the Marina. Currently in place were 2 no manual doors which did not have the functionality to cope with the heavy pedestrian traffic flow. Many of the marina members and visitors are elderly and the manual doors proved to be rather cumbersome and heavy. Additional issues occurred when parents were pushing push chairs and of course the heavy doors were not user friendly.
The Marine Directors agreed that an automated entrance system would be the best option in order to manage the access into the facility block and requested that ERREKA Automatic Doors & Shopfronts UK Ltd designed a new automatic entrance way for the facilities block. ERREKA Automatic Doors & Shopfronts UK Ltd replaced the 2 no manual doors with 2 no automatic door screens. 2 no ERREKA Ertain operators were installed in order to create the new automatic sliding doors. The ERREKA Ertain automatic door operators have a silent aluminium sliding rail, anodized cover with supporting articulation, and the double wheel carriages are adjustable.
The automatic sliding doors were manufactured from aluminium by skilled fabricators at ERREKA Automatic Doors & Shopfronts UK Ltd with precision and care following the exact specifications of the client. Aluminium is the perfect material for manufacturing automatic doors; it is as strong as steel but lightweight and durable. The beauty of aluminium is that it is resilient to rust making it the ideal choice for a marina! The aluminium automatic doors were powder painted in white and installed by our professional door technicians to the highest possible standard.
The automatic sliding doors transformed the overall appearance of the unit and the classy stylish appearance of the automatic sliding doors was much more in keeping with the rest of the modern beautiful marina.
Once installed at the floating facility block the members and visitors were able to access the facility block with comfort and ease, for the disabled and the elderly the automatic sliding doors were extremely useful as they no longer had to seek assistance to enter the facility block. Everybody using the facility block was suitably impressed with the new automatic sliding doors and ERREKA Automatic Doors & Shopfronts UK Ltd is proud to be associated with Chatham Marina.
